I really enjoyed todays class working with my group. We got together to brainstorm ideas, to create a Science Fair video on a topic of our choice. We decided to test whether the sense of smell has a relationship to the sense of taste. We will do this by blind folding one of our group members, and letting them taste skittles with their nose clamped and then retaste the same skittle with their nose unclamped. I am really looking forward to putting our creative collaboration on video. WAR EAGLE!!

Video Project

I think that this video project will be very rewarding and fun. I am a little worried about it because I'm kind of camera shy, but I think it's going to be a very worth while project. In the classroom, I know that elementary school students would love to do a video sort of project. It really connects with their generation and would make the project as much fun as it is informative. Doing a project like this will also help the students organize their project before performing it, which helps them learn and retain the purpose of their experiment. I think that this project will be very enjoyable to our class and that it is something we will be able to use in our future classrooms.

Class reflection

Today in class we got together and worked on our coming up group project. I really like my group that I work with in this class. Camillia, lili and me work well together. I think doing this video will be a fun project. Using inspiration is new to me but it is a neat program and can be very useful. Our video will be about a science experiment dealing with the senses of smell and taste.
I learned a lot of interesting facts about copyrighting that I had know idea existed.I learened that teachers could not make a copy of their audiovisual materials, and if a teacher tapes a show off the televison, they can only play it for forty five days to their classroom. Who would have thought that copying a VHS to a DVD for your classroom to watch would be copyright infringement. I was amazed to see how strict the copyright laws were and as a future teacher I feel that this lesson has helped me become a better professional.

A Double Up Entry :)

Since this is my week to blog, I'm doubling up and posting my blog and the copyright discussion in the same entry :).

First things first!
This class has been very fun, challenging, and informative. I was a little nervous at first because I don't know a drastic amount about computers and technology, only enough to get by, really - but I feel that I have a much better understanding even now! I am really enjoying doing our webpage. I think sometimes I am having a little too much fun trying to make the page creative and expressive, but I am thoroughly enjoying myself. My favorite new program I've learned about is Photo Story! I had a blast making my photo story and I think it is an application that students would love to use. I think it is a new, creative way to express one's life story or something they'd like to teach the world!

I really enjoy Auburn University. I think there are so many friendly people here, and it's relaxed atmosphere makes me feel at home and put things into perspective. I have always felt like I was a part of a really big family. It's too bad that our football team is not doing well this year.. Oh well. It happens to everybody. Football in America isn't like every other country's version of football, where you can't touch the ball with your hands and dribble down to the net to score. It's actually very complex and I've often wondered what in the world football Americana's founder was thinking when he thought it up, but it is still very entertaining. Our ball is shaped kind of like a lemon and the players actually throw the ball with their hands and run while holding it. I'm not quite sure why they call it football :P.

Have any of our Seoul friends had Italian food? It is my absolute favorite! What are your favorite Korean sports and foods?

Until next time,
~Lili

COPYRIGHT ASSIGNMENT:

The most surprising part about copyright is how "fine print" it all really is. It never occurred to me that copying a VHS to a DVD, simply for a digital showing (nonprofit) would be copyright infringement. I probably didn't think about it because it is so easy to copy a VHS to a DVD on the duo VHS/DVD players. Teachers really need to keep copyright issues in mind since our entire careers revolve around presenting information to an audience. When I need to use copyright objects in my classroom, I will research how I can go about it properly (i.e., seeking permission from creator) and present the information in a respectful manner or simply find another means to teach my class if my first plan violates copyright law. Adjustments like that need to be made because it simply isn't fair to the creator of the copyright material for other's to use it without proper permission.

copyright questions

Some of the most surprising facts I learned about copyright were teachers could not make a copy of their audiovisual materials, if a teacher tapes a show off the televison they can only play it for forty five days and a teacher is not suppose to copy pages out of a workbook, they are suppose to buy the pages. If I had a question about anything dealing with copyright I would ask the media speicalist at the school.

I was very scared when I first started taking this class because computers make me nervous. As weeks have gone by, I have become more comfortable in class and with the computer. Thank God for Dr. Hur and Megan for their ongoing help, I would be lost in space wiithout them. I am a junior at Auburn University and my major is Elementary Education. I transfered her form Chattahoochee Valley Community College in Phenix City Alabama. My favorite food is Mexican and my favorite color is yellow.War Eagle!!!!
